On May 14, 2026, a streetlifting tournament—a modern strength sport based on weighted exercises—took place at correctional colony No. 10 (Yekaterinburg). This was reported on Thursday by the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region.
"Athletes, divided into three weight categories, competed in pull-ups on the bar and dips on the parallel bars. Participants performed exercises for the maximum number of repetitions using special weights," the Federal Penitentiary Service reported.
Winners were determined by the total points scored in both events.
"Such initiatives contribute to strengthening discipline and psychological relief within the institution. The sporting spirit and will to win help inmates develop useful habits necessary for successful resocialization after release," the penitentiary agency believes.
