A criminal case was initiated against a resident of Sverdlovsk for pretending to be sick and going on vacation.
In Nizhny Tagil, a locomotive driver will stand trial, accused of fraud involving sick leave certificates. According to the investigation, a 45-year-old resident of the Sverdlovsk region issued fake temporary disability certificates and received payments for almost a month without going to work.
As reported by the transport police, operational information about the possible crime was received by the linear department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the Nizhny Tagil station on February 16, 2026. An inspection revealed that from July 24 to August 15, 2025, the railway worker was absent from his workplace under the pretext of illness.
The investigation established that the man purchased counterfeit electronic sick leave certificates for 18,000 rubles. At the same time, he did not contact any medical institution and did not undergo treatment. Instead, according to law enforcement data, the driver went to St. Petersburg.
He provided the fake documents to his employer, after which he received about 84,000 rubles in compensation payments. It is known that the man had previously been convicted of theft.
The railway worker has been charged under part 1 of article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - fraud in obtaining payments. During the investigation, he has been placed under a travel restriction measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave.
