The Investigative Committee suspected a detective from the Sverdlovsk police of forging a signature.
The Investigative Committee has initiated a check regarding investigator Ekaterina Bolotova of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kamensk-Uralsky region. The employee is suspected of forging the signature of the victim. This was reported to the EAN publication by the victim's lawyer, Sergey Barsukov.
— The official in question will leave the ranks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Sverdlovsk police garrison in the coming days. The order for this employee's dismissal from the internal affairs bodies has already been signed, noted Valery Gorelykh, press secretary of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk region.
Lawyer Barsukov represents the interests of a 70-year-old resident of Kamensk-Uralsky, who became a victim of telephone fraudsters. In September 2023, the pensioner received a call from an unknown person claiming to be an employee of Sberbank. She was informed that her "Gosuslugi" account had been hacked and someone was taking out loans in her name. To stop this, the elderly woman needed to take out a loan and then send the money to a specified bank account. Over the course of several days, the pensioner took out loans secured by real estate totaling 900,000 rubles from different banks and sent the money to the fraudsters via ATMs. She later realized she had been deceived and went to the police. A criminal case was opened under the article "Fraud."
The victim independently visited banks and found out where her money had gone. It is difficult to catch the fraudsters themselves, but the identities of the intermediaries were discovered—two from Moscow and one from Barnaul. This information was passed on to the police by the investigator Bolotova. The amounts were recovered from them in civil proceedings, but the victim did not receive them. The intermediaries were not held criminally liable. The investigation into the case was suspended.
— The victim asked the police to allow her to review the case materials and saw her signature under some documents. Although she was not summoned to the police, she could not have signed anything. We prepared and submitted a statement to the Investigative Committee. I received a response from there that our arguments were convincing. A check regarding Bolotova has begun under the article "Falsification of Evidence." Based on the results of the check, a criminal case may be initiated against Bolotova, the lawyer noted.
