Scooter riders in Yekaterinburg will no longer be able to avoid fines.

In Yekaterinburg, they have begun testing a technology for the automatic detection of violations committed by users of electric scooters and other means of individual mobility (SIM). For this purpose, road cameras at city intersections have been equipped with a special software module capable of recognizing the most common violations. This is reported by the Telegram channel "Yekaterinburg Main."

The system records several types of dangerous behavior at once: riding two people on one scooter, crossing pedestrian crossings without haste, the use of SIM by children, as well as other violations of traffic rules. Essentially, this is a full-fledged digital monitoring of scooter users' behavior in urban traffic.

The results of the pilot launch were indicative. On one of the warm days with good weather, the cameras recorded about 3,000 episodes of violations in just one day. Such a volume of data, according to observers, demonstrates the scale of the problem and the high level of disregard for the rules by some users of kick-sharing.

So far, the authorities have not disclosed when exactly the system will operate in full mode and whether fines will be issued automatically. However, the mere fact of the emergence of such technologies indicates that control over the electric scooter market in Russian cities will be strengthened.

Experts note that automatic detection of violations could become one of the key tools for restoring order on the streets of megacities, where the number of traffic accidents and conflicts involving SIM continues to rise.
