The property of the former mayor of Sverdlovsk and former minister of energy and housing and communal services is being seized.
The Prosecutor General's Office demanded the seizure of property obtained through corruption for the benefit of the state from 22 defendants, including the former head of Degtyarsk Vadim Pilnikov and the former deputy minister of energy and housing and communal services of the Sverdlovsk region Sergey Gaida.
The Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg will consider the claim for the transfer of assets worth 500 million rubles to the state, the press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts reports.
— At the stage of preparing the case for consideration, a freeze has been imposed on the defendants' property as a precautionary measure, the agency clarifies.
The defendants include 5 legal entities and 17 individuals. Sergey Gaida was arrested in absentia in February. He worked in the government of the Middle Urals from 2014 to 2018, and in January he was placed on the federal wanted list in a corruption case.
It was previously reported that the former head of the Sverdlovsk Federal Tax Service, who fled abroad, was detained.
