The Sverdlovsk State Traffic Inspectorate commented on the "introduction of new fines."
The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Sverdlovsk region has called the information about the introduction of new fines for traffic violations starting June 1, 2026, inaccurate. The agency emphasized that the messages circulating on the internet about tightening responsibility for drivers are fake.
— We urge administrators of public pages, representatives of the blogging sphere, media, and other resources to verify information with official representatives or on the official resource pravo.gov.ru, the regional State Traffic Inspectorate reported.
The clarifications were prompted by publications in several media outlets and social networks. In particular, it was reported that starting June 1, a ban on using mobile phones while driving would allegedly be introduced. However, the agency reminded that the use of smartphones requiring the device to be held in hand has been prohibited since 2013. A fine of 1,500 rubles is imposed for this violation.
Also, the information about a new fine for driving in the oncoming lane is not true. A sanction of 7,500 rubles has been in effect since December 2024 and is not related to changes allegedly coming into force at the beginning of June.
