The perpetrator of the traffic accident in Revda that resulted in the deaths of two children, Mikhail Slobodyan, has appealed his sentence. On June 2, 2026, Mikhail Slobodyan, convicted for causing an accident in Revda that led to the deaths of two children and left a third child barely surviving, appealed his sentence. He believes the punishment imposed by the court is too harsh, reported "Komsomolskaya Pravda - Yekaterinburg" lawyer Dmitry Krotov, representing the interests of the affected families.
Mikhail Slobodyan was tried under the article for violating traffic rules that resulted in the death of two or more persons (part 6 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as for illegal acquisition and storage of drugs in large quantities (part 2 of article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), recalls "Komsomolskaya Pravda - Yekaterinburg."
The case of Slobodyan was considered by the Yekaterinburg garrison military court, as the defendant was a serviceman who had previously signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense and was on leave due to injury.
The sentence—17 years in a general regime colony—was handed down on April 17. The court also granted the victims' claim for compensation of 12 million rubles from the perpetrator of the accident as moral damages. As representative of the victims Dmitry Krotov told "Komsomolskaya Pravda - Yekaterinburg," the convicted individual challenged both the sentence and the civil claim for the recovery of 12 million rubles in favor of the affected families.
