One of the eyewitnesses of the accident, in which four people died under the wheels of a bus, reported that everything happened rapidly. The account of the young man, who was a meter away from joining the list of victims, is provided by "KP-Ekaterinburg."
Vitaly Kazantsev was sitting on a bench with friends, writes "KP-Ekaterinburg." At first, he heard a sound coming from the roadway and turned in that direction.
— I just turned around, and I see that the bus is already crashing into the left side of the car, breaking the barriers at the sidewalk and flying past us. Literally a meter, and we would have also ended up under the bus, — Vitaly told "KP-Ekaterinburg." — Everything happened so suddenly. Bang, and people are under the wheels. Five people. One woman survived. Passengers were exiting in shock. An ambulance was called.
At the time of the accident, there were 11 people on the bus, none of whom were injured. Both drivers (of the bus and the car) also escaped injury.
The Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region has initiated two criminal cases regarding the incident — under part 5 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles, resulting in the unintentional death of two or more persons") and part 3 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the unintentional death of two or more persons").
