A dessert from English cuisine - a layered trifle with strawberries - was prepared by women inmates at the Tagil IK-6 for a professional skills competition, reported the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region.
The professional skills competition "Best in the Profession of Baker" took place at the vocational educational institution No. 242 at IK-6 of the Federal Penitentiary Service (Nizhny Tagil). Normally, the participants work in sewing production.
The competition was held in two stages - theoretical and practical.
In the theoretical stage, which took the form of a test, knowledge of the technology for preparing various types of dough, sanitary standards, and safety rules in production, as well as various recipes, was assessed.
In the practical stage, the task of preparing sponge cake dough and products made from it, specifically trifle - a dessert from English cuisine made from sponge cake with custard, fruit juice or jelly, and whipped cream - was evaluated.
During the practical stage, adherence to the technological process, safety techniques, organization of the workplace, and aesthetics of the product were assessed.
At the end of the competition and tasting of the resulting dishes, the jury members summarized and announced the results.
In April, the cafeteria staff for the employees of IK-6, also women among the inmates, baked Easter cakes for sale.
