A homeless resident of Sverdlovsk with a mental disorder is being sent to the special military operation.
A 48-year-old resident of a social shelter for the homeless, Sergey Galiyev, who has a psychiatric diagnosis, is being prepared for deployment to the special military operation zone from the Sverdlovsk region after signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. The situation is being investigated by the regional human rights commissioner, Tatyana Merzlyakova, reports 66.RU.
As the founder of the shelter, Olga Bakhtina, told a correspondent from 66.RU, her ward was likely offered to go to the special military operation at police station No. 14, where Galiyev was supposed to report for eight years but had not done so for the last two years. The man has been convicted three times previously for theft.
In June, after another check-in at the police, the man went missing. He informed Olga, who called him, that he was being intimidated in a car by unknown individuals: they took his passport and said they would not return it until he signed the contract.
Due to a violation of the conditions of administrative supervision because of his psychiatric diagnosis, he was supposed to be sent to a closed-type hospital, but instead, according to Olga Bakhtina, he was coerced into signing the contract.
Moreover, the man cannot read or write, and in addition to his mental disorder, he suffers from alcoholism.
At the moment, Sergey Galiyev is already in a training military unit in the village of Zhetkovo in the Transbaikal region, reports 66.RU.
The Sverdlovsk ombudsman's office has already taken the situation under control. They intend to seek the termination of the contract for the Ural resident. Olga Bakhtina, for her part, demands that the unscrupulous recruiters be held accountable for sending an unfit fighter to the special military operation zone.
