On June 23, 2026, around 8:00 PM in Yekaterinburg on Akademika Parina Street, near house No. 45, a traffic accident occurred involving a rental electric scooter and a minor pedestrian.
According to preliminary data from the State Traffic Inspectorate, a 19-year-old local resident, while riding the electric scooter, was moving along the pedestrian walkway and did not maintain constant control over the movement and necessary caution. As a result, he collided with the child who was on the walkway with his mother.
The 2-year-old boy was injured in the accident. He was taken by an ambulance team to the Children's City Clinical Hospital No. 9 in Yekaterinburg, where he is receiving necessary assistance.
The State Traffic Inspectorate identified the scooter driver - he is a resident of the city. An inspection was conducted at the scene, and witnesses and participants of the incident were interviewed. An investigation into the accident has been initiated.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded that when moving on sidewalks and pedestrian paths, drivers of individual mobility devices must yield to pedestrians, not create obstacles for them, and not put them in danger. The speed of movement should not exceed 25 km/h, and in residential areas, priority always remains with pedestrians, especially in places where children may appear.
