The chief narcologist of the Ural Federal District proposed to completely ban vapes and tobacco in Russia.
Starting from March 1, 2027, Russian regions will have the right to independently impose a complete ban on the sale of electronic cigarettes. However, the chief narcologist of the Ural Federal District, Anton Poddubny, believes that such measures should apply throughout the country.
In the broadcast of the program "Accent" on OTV, he stated that vapes bring no benefits, and their main consumers remain teenagers.
— Not only should we ban vapes in our region, but it should be done across the entire country. These devices do not provide anything useful, and the main consumers are teenagers. I see that everyone is trying to fight this problem: teachers, educators, parents. I don’t understand why we are still standing still, Poddubny noted.
In response to a question about why regular cigarettes remain on sale if a ban on vapes is being discussed, Poddubny admitted that he also sees no logic in this.
— We need to approach the point of discussing and considering the possibility of a complete ban on the sale of tobacco products after a certain number of years, he emphasized.
