In Yekaterinburg, a provocateur was convicted for graffiti inciting hatred against Azerbaijanis.
The Kirov District Court of Yekaterinburg has sentenced a man who, last summer, after the detention of representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora accused of murders in the Ural capital, engaged in the deliberate incitement of interethnic hatred through graffiti. According to the investigation, on July 1, 2025, the owner of one of the Telegram channels contacted Danil Nuriyev and offered him money to carry out a task - to write graffiti in the Azerbaijani language on the walls of buildings in Yekaterinburg. The inscriptions translated to "death to the Russians," the newspaper Kommersant previously reported.
Danil Nuriyev agreed. The next day, he painted more than 10 graffiti, aimed at provoking hostility among citizens towards Azerbaijanis. The police quickly identified the writer. Charges were brought under part 1 of article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for extremist activities), part 2 of article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (vandalism), and part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism).
However, the man was not placed in custody. Nuriyev fully admitted his guilt but ignored the court sessions.
According to the charges, Nuriyev received the task and sketches of the future inscriptions from Rishat Tokaev from Bashkortostan, who, in turn, received them from an unidentified person in a Telegram channel, the EAN agency reports. Also, as the state prosecutor stated, Nuriyev was assisted by a certain Gleb Repyev, who monitored the situation while he was applying the inscriptions.
When sentencing, the court took into account a previous conviction for theft (part 1 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against the defendant in Ufa and sentenced him to three years of compulsory labor with a fine of 5,000 rubles, reports "Ъ-Ural."
During the trial, it also became known that Nuriyev is a defendant in another criminal case in Chelyabinsk.
