In the village of Kurki in the Artyom district of the Sverdlovsk region, a criminal case has been initiated following the death of three people in a fire at a private house. The investigation is being conducted under the article on causing death by negligence.
According to the regional department of the Investigative Committee, the victims of the fire were a couple born in 1957 and 1961, as well as their son born in 1989.
Preliminary data suggests that the family was celebrating a relative's birthday the day before. During the night, three family members were sleeping in the house, while another man stayed in the bathhouse. In the early morning, he noticed a fire on the veranda and attempted to extinguish the flames; however, the fire quickly engulfed the house. The people inside died from smoke inhalation.
— The elderly couple were pensioners, and their son was not officially employed. All of them were described as satisfactory, said Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk region.
Investigators are determining the exact cause of the fire. Among the versions being considered is the emergency operation mode of the old electrical wiring. Necessary examinations have been appointed.
