On the Chusovaya River near Nizhny Tagil, a 62-year-old tourist from Nevyansk died during a rafting trip. A tree fell on her tent during a severe hurricane. Eyewitnesses reported that the bad weather struck suddenly and lasted only a few minutes, according to "Komsomolskaya Pravda - Yekaterinburg."
According to one of the participants in the rafting, Larisa, the two-day route began on Tuesday and was supposed to end on Thursday. The tourists stopped at a well-equipped stationary camp with tents on wooden platforms.
The forecast promised only light rain, so the hurricane came as a complete surprise. Around 4:00 PM, a thunderstorm, downpour, and gusty winds began. Trees started breaking and falling on the tents. Most of the vacationers were outside at that moment, but the 62-year-old woman remained in her tent. A birch tree fell on her. According to preliminary data, the tourist died on the spot.
After the incident, the organizers checked the camp, cut up the fallen trees, and decided to halt the rafting. All participants were evacuated down the river on rafts.
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article for providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the accidental death of a person.
