A resident of Yekaterinburg won over half a million rubles from Aeroflot for canceled tickets.
The Kirov District Court of Yekaterinburg ordered Aeroflot to pay a local resident more than 517 thousand rubles after the airline canceled the tickets he purchased due to a technical error.
As reported by the court, in October 2023, the Yekaterinburg resident purchased tickets through an online service for the route Yekaterinburg - Krasnoyarsk - Phuket and back for himself and three family members. The cost of the trip was 66 thousand rubles. However, later the carrier notified the passenger of the cancellation of the booking, explaining it was due to a technical error in ticket processing, and refunded the money.
In order not to cancel the vacation, the man was forced to buy tickets again for the same dates. This time they cost 404 thousand rubles. After that, he demanded that the airline reimburse the difference in the cost of the flight, but was refused.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the tickets were canceled due to an incorrectly stated price. The court concluded that the airline unilaterally terminated the air transportation contract, thereby violating consumer rights.
According to the court's decision, the carrier was ordered to pay 337 thousand rubles in the difference in ticket prices, 100 thousand rubles in penalties, 70 thousand rubles in fines, and 10 thousand rubles in compensation for moral damages. In addition, the airline must pay a state duty of 13 thousand rubles.
