“Well, what can I say, it was the decision of the deputies, not just mine. We simply proposed it. Everyone agreed with these arguments, and the decision was made,” Alexey Orlov replied to the question from 66.RU about whether he regrets moving the main city holiday.
“We expected that the weather would be more predictable in early August. This year, there has been an anomalous amount of precipitation. I hope that in the coming years everything will be fine,” he explained.
It was previously reported that due to the extremely rainy weather on City Day, the events scheduled for it set an anti-record for attendance. Only 100,000 people participated in the city festivities in the rain.
The decision to celebrate City Day not on the third Saturday (as had been the case for decades) but on the first Saturday of August was made in April.
