The prosecutor's office will address the lack of water for the residents of Yekaterinburg.
The Prosecutor's Office of Yekaterinburg has begun an investigation due to the suspension of water supply in several areas of the city. This was reported by the supervisory agency.
Water supply issues arose on August 7. According to the prosecutor's office, the cause was a multiple exceedance of the initial water parameters in the Volchikhin Reservoir, which led to critical clogging of the purification filters. A significant volume of purified water was required for their flushing and restoration. As a result, water supply was limited in the Kirovsky, Ordzhonikidzevsky, Chkalovsky, as well as partially in the Verkh-Isetsky, Oktyabrsky, and Leninsky districts of Yekaterinburg.
The system's restoration is being handled by the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Vodokanal." The prosecutor's office will assess how well the organization complies with the requirements of legislation on uninterrupted supply of communal resources to citizens, whether measures were taken in a timely manner to eliminate the causes of the accident, and whether sufficient forces and resources were involved in restoring the water supply.
Based on the results of the investigation, the prosecutor's office may take responsive measures if there are grounds. Supervisory activities are ongoing.
