The Revda court has chosen a preventive measure for the recidivist "Cherkas" who beat a front-line soldier.
A preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen in Revda by the court at the request of the investigative authorities regarding a 37-year-old local resident who beat a participant in a special military operation. The man, accused of hooliganism, has been taken into custody, reports the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region.
Late in the evening on July 26, near the entrance of a house on Maxim Gorky Street in the city of Revda, the suspect, grossly violating public order and using violence, struck a man born in 1977, a participant in the special military operation, several times with a crutch in the head and legs, as well as several blows with his hand to the head, clarified the Investigative Committee.
According to investigators, the victim defended a girl.
The charges were brought under part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism with the use of weapons or items used as weapons, or related to resistance to a person preventing a violation of public order).
The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for the accused Anton Cherkasov for two months, until October 8 of this year inclusive. The ruling will come into legal force in 3 days if not appealed by the parties, the press service of the regional courts reported.
"When choosing this preventive measure, the court deemed the arguments of the investigation justified, noting that the previously convicted suspect is accused of committing a serious crime, which may allow him to hide from the preliminary investigation and court, threaten witnesses and other participants in the criminal proceedings, destroy evidence, or otherwise obstruct the proceedings in the criminal case," the message from the regional Investigative Committee of Russia states.
It should be noted that the accused of attacking a 49-year-old veteran of the special military operation, 37-year-old resident of Revda Anton Cherkasov, has been previously convicted multiple times. In court, he pleaded with the judge not to send him to a pre-trial detention center.
