      The employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate are establishing the circumstances of a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian in Yekaterinburg, which occurred on August 11 in the ZHB microdistrict.

      The road incident happened at 11:00 near the house at 12 Novgorodtseva Street.

      According to preliminary data, a 47-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi truck, traveling from Bazovy Lane towards the Siberian Tract bypass, hit a pedestrian.

      It has been preliminarily established that the deceased man was crossing the roadway from right to left in the direction of the vehicle's movement.

      The driver, who has 7 years of experience driving vehicles, applied emergency braking; however, he was unable to avoid the collision. As a result of the impact, the pedestrian died at the scene from his injuries.

      It was reported that the identity of the deceased is being established. An investigation into the traffic accident has been initiated.

      "The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that crossing the roadway is only permitted at designated locations. Outside of a pedestrian crossing, stepping onto the road is extremely dangerous," noted the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of Yekaterinburg.

      "Remember that a vehicle driver, especially of a large vehicle, may require significant time to stop, and visibility around obstacles, including road barriers, is limited."
