The traffic accident happened on Wednesday, August 12, around 11:00 at the 343rd kilometer of the road "Yekaterinburg - Serov," reported the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region.
The boy, born in 2017, a resident of the city of Verkhoturye, was traveling with his parents in a Volkswagen Tiguan from Serov towards Yekaterinburg. The father, who was driving, stopped on the roadside, after which the boy exited the cabin. After that, the parent turned the vehicle in the opposite direction (towards Serov) and parked on the opposite side of the road.
The child was struck by a Mitsubishi Outlander while running across the road to the parent's car. In serious condition, the injured child was taken to the intensive care unit in Serov, reports the driver community "Yekaterinburg - Serov" on VKontakte.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander, a man born in 1977 with 31 years of driving experience, explained that the boy suddenly ran onto the roadway from behind a moving truck, from left to right in the direction of the vehicle's movement. He explained to the police that he had no technical ability to prevent the collision, as he did not see the child due to the oncoming flow of vehicles and the limited visibility created by the large vehicle.
