The Minister of Economic Development of Russia named what the Sverdlovsk region has succeeded in.

During his visit to the Sverdlovsk region, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov noted the region's potential and its contribution to the country's economic development. According to him, the Middle Ural can be considered a model example for other regions—here, it is clearly visible how various economic projects and programs work.

The minister paid special attention to the development of small and medium-sized businesses. Today, more than 1 million residents of Sverdlovsk are employed in this sector, and the number of registered companies and organizations exceeds 216,000. Just last year, SMEs transferred 148.5 billion rubles in taxes to the consolidated budget of the region.

Reshetnikov also highlighted the growth of the tourism industry. In the first seven months of 2026, the Sverdlovsk region was visited by more than 1.1 million tourists—13.9% more than in the same period last year. The region ranks sixth in Russia in terms of the number of travelers. At the same time, the number of foreign guests has increased by almost 45%.

Tax revenues from tourism are also growing. Over five years, they have increased fivefold—from 200 million rubles in 2020 to 1 billion rubles in 2025.

Another strong direction the minister mentioned is the creative industries. According to him, this sector of the economy is growing four times faster than the economy as a whole. The Sverdlovsk region ranks sixth in Russia in terms of the volume of the creative economy, which is estimated at 150.5 billion rubles.

Over the year, the number of entrepreneurs in this sector increased by 12.5%. In 2025, tax revenues from creative industries grew by a third, reaching 27.7 billion rubles, of which 16 billion rubles went to the regional budget.

The region is also developing automotive tourism: this year, roads leading to natural parks and reserves are being repaired, including to "Denizhkin Stone," "Deer Streams," "Bazhov's Places," and "Cedar Grove."

Thus, during his visit, Reshetnikov noted several areas where the Sverdlovsk region is showing high results: small and medium-sized businesses, tourism, and creative industries.
