Russian athlete Sergey Boytsov jumped from a hot air balloon at a height of 11,551 meters. He broke the record previously held by Polish extreme sports enthusiasts, exceeding it by almost 1.5 km, reports "Channel 4."
The free flight lasted 7 minutes and 19 seconds. At that altitude, the temperature dropped to -59 °C. The parachute opened at an altitude of 1,565 meters above the ground. The athlete landed in the Altai Territory.
The skydiver dedicated his record to the International Youth Festival, which will take place in September in Yekaterinburg.
"We did what seemed incredible not long ago. It is especially important that this record was set in Russia and on domestic equipment," noted Sergey Boytsov.
The hot air balloon also set a record - the device, operated by Ivan Menyaylo, ascended to 11,610 meters, reports "Channel 4" in MAX.
