The alleys along Mira Street in Yekaterinburg have received their names.

      Green areas along Mira Street in Yekaterinburg will be divided into two toponymic objects, which will receive names. This was reported by the press service of the city administration.

      Proposals for the names were prepared and approved by the toponymy commission in collaboration with UrFU, whose scholars are located nearby.

      Thus, the area from May Day Street to Kirov Square has been named "Engineers-Builders Alley," and from Kirov Square to Malyshev Street — "Physicists-Technologists Alley."

      In addition, by the commission's decision, the space at the intersection of Chelyuskintsev and Sverdlova Streets near the "80th Anniversary of Victory" stele will be called "Gennady Popov Square."

      Thus, the name of a worker from the Sverdlovsk prosecutor's office, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, and a Hero of the Soviet Union has been immortalized.

      At the same meeting of the commission, held on August 28, experts decided to install two memorial plaques on buildings in Yekaterinburg.

      One of them, made of gabbro, will appear on the facade of the building at 54 Mamina-Sibiryaka Street in memory of Professor of UPI, Doctor of Technical Sciences Venedikt Klimanov. It will be placed next to the already installed plaques on the building dedicated to the honored coach of the USSR Valentin Atamanychev and Professor Semyon Barats.

      The second memorial plaque will appear at 13 "a" Krasny Lane on the building of sports school No. 8 "Lokomotiv." The plaque will commemorate the architect Elza Korobkina, who passed away this year. She was the one who designed the sports school building.

      The memorial plaque will be installed on the same wall as the existing plaque in memory of the founder of the figure skating school, Susanna Cherkezova.
