In Yekaterinburg, taxi prices have sharply increased due to a shortage of drivers.
Due to a shortage of drivers in Yekaterinburg, taxi fares noticeably increased at the end of this working week. This was reported to the EAN agency by city residents using the service.
For instance, a Yekaterinburg resident mentioned that on Friday evening, instead of the usual 400 rubles for her trips from guests, the "economy" fare increased to 950.
"And this is the economy; comfort is more expensive. And I got stuck in such a terrible traffic jam, it took me an hour to get there. We had gasoline at 'Gazpromneft' on Shefskaya, and there were about 200 cars in line, they spilled over into the second lane, and the taxi driver couldn't get around them. It was awful; I had never seen anything like it before," she told EAN.
Another Yekaterinburg resident, who took a taxi for 800 rubles instead of the usual 300, relayed the driver's words that half of the taxi drivers did not come out on Friday.
A twenty-minute taxi ride to Koltsovo Airport, according to aggregator data, cost 1400 rubles that day. "I have never paid that much to go there," another EAN interlocutor reported.
