Infected lemons have appeared on the shelves of Sverdlovsk stores.
In the Sverdlovsk region, specialists from the Rosselkhoznadzor discovered a pest in a batch of lemons that arrived from Morocco. A total of five tons of citrus fruits were imported into the region on September 1. During laboratory testing, one live adult red palm scale was found in the fruits. The Rosselkhoznadzor explained that this pest usually spreads through infected planting material - cuttings and seedlings. Lemons and other fruits are considered an atypical means of its spread. However, the single specimen found does not pose a threat to agricultural land. Therefore, the entire batch of citrus fruits was allowed to be sold in the Sverdlovsk region. Earlier, 10 tons of Uzbek peaches were destroyed in Yekaterinburg.
