A student from Yekaterinburg hacked "Gosuslugi" and accrued loans in people's names.

      A student from Yekaterinburg received two years of forced labor for hacking "Gosuslugi" and obtaining microloans. The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced 21-year-old student Artem M. from a local university. The young man was found guilty of a series of hacks into citizens' accounts on the "Gosuslugi" portal and obtaining microloans in their names.

      According to the court, from August 2023 to March 2024, Artem received SMS codes to restore access to accounts registered to phone numbers that previously belonged to the victims. After that, he changed passwords and blocked the owners' access to their personal accounts.

      As a result, six people were affected. The student copied passport data, registration information, and income details from their accounts, and then used them to obtain microloans. He directed the money to his bank card. The total amount of damage exceeded 61,000 rubles.

      The young man did not admit his guilt. He stated that he did not remember the circumstances of the incident due to the passage of time and also claimed that he had given his bank card to acquaintances.

      For six episodes of unauthorized access to computer information, the student was sentenced. He was exempted from punishment for six episodes of fraud due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

      Taking into account the previous sentence from June 26, 2025, the court sentenced M. to two years of forced labor with 10% of his earnings withheld for the state. In addition, he must pay a fine of 600,000 rubles.
