Yekaterinburg has abandoned the use of electronic voting machines in the upcoming elections.
At the polling stations in Yekaterinburg for the upcoming elections to the State Duma and the regional Legislative Assembly, there will be no ballot processing complexes (KOIB). The number of polling stations will also be reduced by a quarter, reports 66.RU.
Some of them have been merged and consolidated, said Vadim Antoshin, deputy director of the organizational and documentation support department of the Yekaterinburg administration.
Instead of the previous 600 stations, there will be 450, writes 66.RU. There will be no KOIBs (ballot processing complexes) at these stations. Counting the votes this year will take more time.
The voter lists this year will be in electronic form. Voters will sign for the issued ballot by placing their signature on a tablet.
