Ural businessman harmed by Fedor Smolov may imprison him for 8 years

Yesterday at 14:40, footballer Fyodor Smolov could face up to eight years in prison if the harm caused to the victim's health is deemed serious. This was reported by the Telegram channel SHOT.

According to SHOT's sources, the police are awaiting the results of the examination of the injured businessman from Chelyabinsk, Vladimir Kuzminov. He was examined at his place of residence and is expected to send the conclusion from Chelyabinsk doctors to Moscow. If the harm is classified as serious, a criminal case will be initiated under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Deliberate infliction of serious harm to health — note Uralweb).

The media reported that the victim had a fracture of the facial bones. "He attacked, I dodged, but my friend received a jaw fracture," said another victim of Smolov, Andrey Popyelukha, to RT.

Smolov himself stated that he sent the victims one million rubles during the fight at "Kofemania" to "compensate for moral damages and possible health harm."

"If necessary, I was ready to discuss increasing the compensation, but only within the framework of the law. Regarding extortionists, the amounts talked about were many times larger. I have not made any payments to them and do not plan to," journalist Ivan Karpov quotes Smolov in his Telegram channel.

Recall that last Saturday, a video from the "Kofemania" restaurant on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street in Moscow, showing Smolov hitting two visitors in the face, was circulated.

After the video of the fight appeared online, Smolov apologized and announced that he had contacted the police with a report of extortion for the video's non-publication.

In May, 35-year-old former Russian national team player, who plays for "Krasnodar," became the Russian champion for the first time. It is worth mentioning that Fyodor Smolov also played for Yekaterinburg's "Ural." In May 2017, Smolov was recognized as the best footballer in Russia based on the voting results conducted by the newspaper "Sport-Express," which surveyed 11 leading players from all RPL clubs.
