Ekaterina and her friend were heading to the airport—they needed to fly from Barcelona to Rome. There were hotel reservations, excursions, and tickets to Moscow waiting for them.
"Angela was walking ahead, I was behind when suddenly some foul-smelling liquid was poured over me. I heard a bird sound. A man was walking behind me; I thought he might have also been hit. He played his part well, opened his backpack, and started taking out tissues," Ekaterina told E1.ru.
The man with tissues began wiping her with them. While he was doing this, he turned her away from her bag.
"Then I hear Angela shouting, 'Bag!'. I turn around and see the man running toward the road with my bag. It turned out it was another person; our 'helper' also disappeared," the girl added.
Her bag contained her international passport, all her money, a camera with photos and videos from the vacation.
At the police station, they met many other victims, of all nationalities—Russians, Spaniards.
"One man was crying openly; his passport and money were stolen," the girl noted.
Luckily, the girl managed to keep her Russian passport. Otherwise, she would have needed to bring two witnesses with Russian citizenship to get her documents at the Russian consulate.
