
Woman in a Lada Kalina died near Serov in a collision with a MAN truck
Today at 18:20, driver fatigue led to a tragedy on the highway near Serov, according to the Russian State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in Sverdlovsk Oblast.
The fatal accident occurred on Friday, July 11, around 3:00 p.m., at the 13th kilometer of the "Serov – Severouralsk – Ivdel" highway near Serov.
According to preliminary information, a male driver born in 1968 operating a MAN truck with a semi-trailer, traveling from Serov toward Yugorsk, fell asleep at the wheel, lost control of the vehicle, and exited onto the oncoming lane, where he collided with a Lada Kalina car.
As a result of the collision, a 42-year-old female passenger sitting in the front seat received injuries incompatible with life. The woman died at the scene before medical personnel arrived.
The driver of the car was hospitalized. Medical tests showed no signs of alcohol intoxication in either driver.
The truck driver explained to traffic officers that he was unaware of losing control and was unable to prevent the collision.
An investigation into the accident is currently underway, and the issue of criminal charges is being considered.
The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reminds drivers of the importance of adhering to work and rest schedules and paying special attention to their physical condition during long trips.
