The administration of the Ural city, which unilaterally declared the "Russian community" dangerous, has backtracked.
The administration of the Ural city, which arbitrarily recognized the "Russian community" as dangerous, "backed down" today at 13:16. The administration of the Troitsky municipal district (Chelyabinsk region) issued an explanation regarding the conflict with the public organization "Russian Community." Earlier, the latter was declared dangerous for interethnic harmony without any court decision.
Officials demanded identifying all employees of the "structural units" of the mayor's office involved in the activities of the R.O., as well as everyone simply subscribed to the organization’s "Russian Community" pages on social networks. The decision was made by a commission on countering extremism.
Reports about this caused a wave of indignation in Telegram channels that support civic activists and assist law enforcement in combating primarily street crime.
For example, military blogger Mikhail Onufriyenko pointed out that there are three organizations in the Chelyabinsk region representing the interests and defending the rights of Azerbaijanis, of whom less than 10,000 live in the region. Meanwhile, local officials saw a threat in one organization that defends the rights of Russians, who constitute the main population of Southern Ural.
Blogger Yuri Baranchik, in turn, drew attention to the direct violation by the Troitsk administration of Federal Law No. 152 "On Personal Data" in their gathering of information about employees.
The "Russian Community" previously announced that their lawyers are preparing counterclaims. In their view, the actions of Troitsk officials fall under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliating human dignity).
After the resonance in the online community, a post appeared on the Troitsk municipal district page on VKontakte, where citizens are urged "not to give in to provocations."
The collection of information about employees in the administration is explained by the need to ensure "transparency and prevent possible conflicts of interest among citizens." Moreover, according to the authors, it is "carried out in strict accordance with the legislation and has an exclusively internal character."
"Any accusations of declaring the activities of the 'Russian Community' extremist are false," stated the Troitsk administration.
