Today at 09:50, former Sverdlovsk Region Minister of Energy and Housing and Utilities Nikolay Smirnov underwent a polygraph test before leaving detention. URA.RU reports citing its source.
— He took the lie detector test approximately a week before the adoption of a new preventive measure, — said an agency insider.
Recall that Smirnov, who served as Minister of Housing and Utilities for 13 years, was detained at the end of January. He was charged with receiving a particularly large bribe. In July, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg softened the preventive measure against the former Sverdlovsk minister. He was released from pre-trial detention with certain restrictions.
The criminal case against Smirnov may be based on testimony from Vadim Pilnikov, the former mayor of Degtyarsk, who was detained in December 2024, and Andrey Kislicin, who was Smirnov’s deputy in the ministry.
