Russian sunflower seed manufacturers hide from buyers that their product is from Russia. This fact was discovered by Yekaterinburg resident Julia, who lives in Germany and regularly visits a store with Russian products in her town.
According to Julia, in July she purchased seeds labeled "Tambov Wolf." The information explaining the origin of the phrase "Tambov Wolf" is provided in German on the packaging. This slightly puzzled Julia because native Germans do not snack on seeds, and the product is initially aimed at Russian-speaking customers.
But what truly upset her was that the seeds, as stated on the packaging, are produced "outside the EU."
It is clear from the description of the same "Tambov Wolf" seeds sold on the Ozon marketplace that they are produced in Russia.
Meanwhile, Turkish and Moldovan seed producers, also sold in Germany, specify their country of origin, Julia says.
Moreover, the packaging of Turkish and Moldovan products contains detailed information about the manufacturer, including address and email. You won't find such details, even with a magnifying glass, on the package of the export "Tambov Wolf."
Even living far from Russia, our reader sees in this seemingly minor detail a readiness among our producers to abandon national pride.
