According to the publicity department of the regional authority, as of Thursday, August 7, since the beginning of the year 186 people have died in 165 fatal road accidents. During the same period in 2024, 17 fewer deaths were recorded.
The largest number of fatalities was recorded in Yekaterinburg (38 people), Nizhny Tagil (16), Berezovsky and Pervouralsk (10 each). Fatal accidents also occurred in Bogdanovichsky, Kamensky, Serovsky and other districts of the region.
The main cause remains violations of traffic rules. The situation with drunk drivers is particularly alarming — 31 people have died as a result of their actions.
In 72 cases the cause of death was choosing an unsafe speed inappropriate for the specific road conditions. Another 46 people died as a result of driving into oncoming traffic and violating overtaking rules.
This tragic statistic also includes 26 pedestrians killed. Mostly people died while crossing the roadway at non-designated locations.
It should be noted that 101 people died within populated areas. On roads outside built-up areas this figure was 85 cases.
