Today at 15:00 in Yekaterinburg, X5 Retail Group opened the region’s first dark store (warehouses from which groceries are delivered) for express delivery of goods, reports Kommersant Ural. The opening ceremony was attended by Yekaterinburg’s deputy head, Dmitry Nozhenko.

The new facility is located at 2 Nikolai Ostrovsky Street and will serve three districts of the Ural capital: Chkalovsky, Oktyabrsky and Leninsky.
Products from the Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and Chizhik chains will be available for delivery, with an assortment of 15,500 items.
The dark store is expected to process around 1,200 orders per day. The staff comprises 18 employees and 20 order pickers.
Earlier in August, SHOT wrote that people with mental health conditions began working in Yandex Lavka dark stores. They stock shelves and assemble orders.
