According to preliminary findings of the investigation, the woman killed her children and then took her own life, senior assistant to the head of the regional directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Shulga told reporters. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
"In the morning of August 10, law enforcement received a report that when the apartment on Bardina Street in the city of Yekaterinburg was opened, the bodies of two young children — a 9-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl — as well as their 49-year-old mother were found. According to preliminary findings of the investigation, the woman killed her children and then took her own life," Shulga said.
The first information about the incident in the apartment in question came from the woman’s mother, the grandmother of the deceased children.
"A relative said that her daughter was not answering calls and that, because of depression, she might 'do something drastic'," the head of the regional Interior Ministry press service Valery Gorelykh told reporters.
According to him, the inspection of the apartment showed no signs of robbery or theft of valuables.
To thoroughly establish all the circumstances of the case, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on the murder of two persons, including minors.
