Three people were injured due to a driver's inattention near Kamensk-Uralsky (PHOTO)
Inattentiveness at the wheel resulted in an accident and led to three passengers being injured (two of them minors) on the Yekaterinburg–Shadrinsk–Kurgan highway, the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate for the Sverdlovsk Region reports.
The accident occurred on Friday, August 29, at 11:50 at the 110 km + 360 m mark of the Yekaterinburg–Shadrinsk–Kurgan road between a KIA Rio and a Skoda Octavia.
According to preliminary information, the driver of the KIA Rio, traveling from the direction of Kurgan toward Kamensk-Uralsky, when turning left at an uncontrolled intersection failed to yield the right of way at the intersection to an oncoming Skoda Octavia driven by a 54-year-old man, as a result of which a collision occurred.
As a result of the accident, three people with injuries of varying severity were taken to hospital for treatment: a female passenger of the Skoda and two underage passengers, born in 2009 and 2016, from the KIA Rio.
At the time of the accident the KIA Rio driver, a 37-year-old resident of the town of Kataysk, and his underage passengers were wearing seat belts.
The man has a total driving experience of 16 years and has been held administratively liable for traffic violations 18 times. A sobriety test produced a negative result.
Two administrative cases have been drawn up against the KIA Rio driver under Part 2 of Article 12.24 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (a violation that caused injuries of moderate severity to the victim) and Part 2 of Article 12.13 of the Code (failure to comply with the traffic rules' requirement to yield to a vehicle entitled to priority at intersections).
The driver of the Skoda Octavia is a local resident; his driving experience is 32 years. He has been held administratively liable for traffic violations 79 (!) times. The sobriety test also showed him to be sober.
