Yesterday afternoon, on September 2, in Nizhny Tagil a 15-year-old schoolboy without a license rode a pit bike. As a result, he hit a 10-year-old girl on a pedestrian crossing and fled the scene. The girl was taken to the intensive care unit of Children's Hospital No. 3.
“During operational-search activities, traffic police officers identified and found the driver. He turned out to be a 15-year-old teenager who does not have the right to operate vehicles. The motorbike was seized and placed in a special impound lot,” the Sverdlovsk traffic police reported.
The teenager said he had borrowed the motorcycle from a friend to ride. He saw people standing at the crossing but thought they were letting him pass. He approached the crossing without slowing down. At that moment the girl ran onto the road. He tried to brake but could not stop in time. He fled because he was afraid of the consequences. The police notified the boy’s family and the juvenile affairs division about the accident. The pit bike’s owner was issued a report for allowing a person without the right to operate it to drive it, E1.RU writes.
Earlier in Yekaterinburg a 20-year-old driver of a Daewoo Matiz was struck by a tram, injuring the conductor.
