
Fountains will be able to operate in winter in Yekaterinburg.
In Yekaterinburg, the fountains in the Dendropark, the "Stone Flower" and the one at the Popov monument will be fitted with lighting structures to operate in winter. The main fountain season, however, will end on September 15. Specialists will carry out phased conservation work on the installations, the mayor’s office clarified.
After the fountains are turned off, the water and electricity supplies will be cut. The fountain basins will be drained and cleaned. The nozzles that supply water will be dismantled, and the water supply pipelines will be blown out with compressed air. All equipment will be dismantled and mothballed for the winter to keep it in working order and to protect it from vandals.
The municipality currently services nine major fountains:
- the "Sphere" on the embankment by the Drama Theatre,
- the fountain at the monument to Alexander Popov,
- the "Stone Flower" on Truda Square,
- the fountain in the square behind the Opera and Ballet Theatre,
- the fountain by the "Black Tulip" at the intersection of Pervomayskaya and Lunacharsky streets,
- the fountain on Vaynera Street (between Malysheva and Radishchev),
- the fountain on Architect Malakhov Boulevard,
- the fountain in the Dendropark,
- the fountain in the Historical Square.
The fountain season in Yekaterinburg began on May 1.
