Sverdlovsk residents are being swarmed by ticks.
The Rospotrebnadzor press service reported that as of September 3, 28,700 residents in the Sverdlovsk Region had suffered tick bites, which is 4% more than last year. The number of people affected is increasing by tens and hundreds each week.
Over the past week, about 100 tick bites were registered in the Sverdlovsk Region. In the previous week 84 people were recorded as having been bitten; a week before that there were about 200, the agency noted.
Since the beginning of the year, 204,400 vaccinations and 374,200 revaccinations against tick-borne viral encephalitis have been carried out. The risk of tick bites persists in the region until the snow cover appears. It was previously reported that around ten million ticks were brought into the Sverdlovsk Region.
