
The amount of the bribe the editor of URA.RU is accused of has increased sixfold.
New developments have emerged in the case of Sverdlovsk editor of the news agency URA.RU, Denis Allayarov, the publication reports on its Telegram channel.
"The amount of the bribe has increased from 20 to 120 thousand rubles," reads URA.RU's Telegram channel.
The journalist, editor of URA.RU's Sverdlovsk regional office, is accused of bribing his relative, the former head of the criminal investigation department of Police Department No. 10 of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Yekaterinburg, Andrey Karpov. According to the investigation, the nephew bought operational reports from his uncle.
The editorial office's statement says that the money Denis transferred to the card was intended for his grandmother and aunt, and Karpov used his mother's card "as if it were his own."
Karpov is accused of receiving a bribe (Part 3 of Article 290) and exceeding his official powers (para. "e", Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Allayarov has been named as a suspect in a case of giving a bribe to an official (Part 3 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Andrey Karpov is under house arrest, Denis Allayarov has been placed in pre-trial detention.
