Juicy details have emerged about the 'incident' involving a five-section tram that stalled at VIZ.
A five-section tram that stalled on the tracks at VIZ yesterday evening due to a breakdown only left at dawn. This was reported in the Telegram channel "Transport News EKB."
"After 3.5 hours the tram left — attention — on autonomous mode, which it turns out it has. Service resumed at 20:38," the specialized Telegram channel said.
In comments to the post users write that the repair workers most likely did not know the new tram had an autonomous run; otherwise it could have left and cleared the tracks much earlier.
Recall that the five-section tram stopped on the bend at the intersection of Vikulova and Tatishcheva Streets the day before at around 16:30. Eyewitnesses initially thought it had derailed (especially since there have been several such incidents in the Ural capital recently).
"According to new information, the Arktur suffered a pantograph break (current collector — ed. Uralweb). The tram stopped in such a way that it completely blocked traffic not only on the main network but also on route 11," Transport News EKB wrote the day before.
According to the relevant Telegram channel, tram traffic was halted because of the incident. Trams for routes 11, 18 and 19 were backed up in the immediate area of the Tatishcheva–Vikulova intersection. As a result, changes were made to the operation of four routes (18, 19, 3, 21).
