All the nurses at a Yekaterinburg care home are going to be fired.
At the nursing home for the elderly and disabled "Seven Keys," located at Reshetskaya 55, nurses may be laid off.
The new director of the home, former chairman of the Polevskoy Duma Ilya Kochev, allegedly decided to revise the institution's concept. Management wants to turn the home into a "dormitory with a canteen." Allegedly the home does not need medical workers; they can hire care specialists instead.
"The home houses 314 people, 80 patients receive medication and the same number are bedridden. With a 2/2 schedule there is one nurse left for the entire home. Cleaners of the service areas, one per ward, take care of the sick. One person is forced to serve 40–50 residents; at night there are three attendants for the entire home," one of the nurses complained to Ura.Ru.
The staff has already been reduced to five nurses. Three are already suing the director over a change in the pay scheme. In their view, the director unilaterally canceled the Russian president's decree to calculate medical workers' pay according to the "roadmap" and introduced an average salary, stopping bonus and incentive payments. As a result, instead of 70,000 it amounted to 45,000 rubles.
The daughter of one of the residents wrote a letter to President Vladimir Putin. Her father lived in the home for a month, after which he died. The woman asked for an investigation into why the institution lacks staff to provide proper care and supervision for bedridden and sick elderly people.
The head of the institution denied any violations and recommended contacting the Ministry of Social Policy, but confirmed plans to dismiss the nurses and hire care specialists in their place.
The Ministry of Social Policy of Sverdlovsk Oblast reported that no information related to complaints about food provision from social service recipients and their relatives had previously been received by the agency. No violations were found.
Earlier, medics at a Yekaterinburg hospital complained about salary reductions.
