The court reclassified the charges against the men who brutally beat the director of a tourist base in Yekaterinburg.

The director of the Yekaterinburg holiday base LLC "Golden Sands" on Lake Shartash, Vasily Zhuykov, who was nearly beaten to death by two men vacationing at the base, told the court the details of that terrible evening. Recall that on Tuesday, September 9, the Kirov District Court of Yekaterinburg delivered a verdict for Vazhi Gamoyan and Radzhi Javoyan.

The attack occurred on December 17, 2024. According to the investigation, Vazhi Gamoyan and Radzhi Javoyan tried to kill Zhuykov for asking them to leave the rented gazebo, reports KP-Yekaterinburg.

The criminal case, investigated by the Investigative Committee, was opened under Art. 30 part 3, para. "zh" of part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder by a group of persons motivated by hooliganism").

"At first they hit me in the chest and tore off the sleeve of my jacket. I began shooting into the air from a traumatic pistol. Then I shot Javoyan once. But he didn’t even notice it," the paper quotes the victim from the courtroom. "They knocked me to the ground, hit me on the head with the butt. I felt warm blood; it was filling my eyes. I got out and tried to run. I was tripped from behind. I was saved by a man from the rapid response team."

The case files state that Zhuykov began shooting only after the defendants hit him in the chest, threatened him with physical violence, and then prevented him from leaving the gazebo.

"After that the victim, in self-defense, took out a traumatic pistol and fired three times into the air, but this did not stop the men. To protect his life the man fired at Javoyan, but the latter continued to move toward the victim.

Carrying out their criminal intent, Javoyan knocked the victim to the ground and inflicted no fewer than 10 blows to the head area, and his accomplice Gamoyan ripped the traumatic pistol out of the camp director's hands and struck him on the head with its handle at least once.

After that the men together, preventing the victim's attempts to get up, continued to beat him, inflicting at least another 10 blows," — describes the assault on the victim, the Sverdlovsk Region prosecutor's office.

The victim was diagnosed with an open traumatic brain injury, a fracture of the bones of the cranial vault and the base of the skull.

However, the Kirov District Court reclassified the charge to item "a" of part 3 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm by a group of persons using objects employed as weapons), reports KP-Yekaterinburg.

The verdict handed down to the attackers was called fair by the victim, Vasily Zhuykov. Both convicted men, however, plan to appeal it. According to the prosecutor's office, they did not plead guilty to the charges.

Earlier they had given a bribe of 100,000 rubles to the now-former head of Police Department No. 2, Alexander Bannikov, and did not think they would end up on the defendants' bench. But the fact of the bribe being handed over was revealed.
