The bank accounts of Sverdlovsk vice‑governor Chemezov were frozen.
All of Sverdlovsk Region vice‑governor Oleg Chemezov’s accounts have been frozen. He told the E1.RU portal about this.
— The bank froze my account. I couldn’t buy food for the children. Bailiffs came; my wife’s accounts have also been frozen. But I had a little personal money, so for now we’re living like this. We had to borrow money to feed the family, — Chemezov told E1.RU.
All of this is connected to a lawsuit by the Prosecutor General’s Office, which has demanded the seizure from Ural oligarchs Artem Bikov and Alexey Bobrov of the company “Oblkommunenergo,” as well as stakes and shares in other companies. The suit contains claims against former Sverdlovsk Region property minister Alexey Pyankov and former housing and communal services minister Nikolay Smirnov. Oleg Chemezov is also named as a defendant, and his wife is listed as a third party.
Recall that Smirnov, who served as housing and communal services minister for 13 years, was detained at the end of January. He was accused of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale. In July, the Lenin District Court of Yekaterinburg softened the preventive measure for the former Sverdlovsk minister. He was released from pre‑trial detention and placed under a ban on certain actions.
