In Pervouralsk, the murder of a taxi driver that occurred 20 years ago was solved. The man, who at the time worked as a private cab driver, was stabbed to death, after which his body was hidden in a forest near the Reshety settlement.
"The accused, together with two acquaintances, were riding in a VAZ-21093. The driver said he would not take anyone further because the car had run out of petrol. The refusal to continue the trip provoked aggression from the passengers, and they decided to kill the driver," the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk Region reported.
The passengers beat and intimidated the victim, took a jerry can and lured the driver into the forest. They said they were taking him to get petrol. Afterwards they killed the man from the Urals.
Three people participated in the attack. One of them was identified two decades later. Repeated interrogations and forensic examinations helped to track down the perpetrator. The detainee was charged with murder committed by a group of persons and taken into custody.
"The accused, Dmitry, had been prosecuted several times. He has six convictions from 1998 to 2012, including for intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm resulting in death and for rape," clarified Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region.
Earlier in Yekaterinburg, a man who had killed a passerby was detained after 12 years.
