The number of livestock in Sverdlovsk Oblast has sharply declined.
Sverdlovskstat provides data showing that in 2025 the number of sheep and goats in the Middle Urals fell by almost 12%, the number of cows decreased by 6%, and agricultural production declined.
The decline is especially noticeable in sheep and goat farming — the former down 11.9%, the latter down 5.7%. The number of cattle fell by 2.9%. The cow herd also decreased compared with July: at that time there were 114.4 thousand of these animals on farms in the region, in August — already 111.6 thousand.
A slight increase is seen only in the pig sector — plus 0.1%, which is within the margin of error. However the poultry industry looks better — up 5.1% — but this does not offset the overall decline, the EAN outlet clarifies.
Agricultural production in 2025 continues a negative trend: in January–August milk output increased by 0.6%, while egg production fell by 0.3%.
Recall that about a week ago it was reported that eggs had begun rising in price again in the Sverdlovsk Region.
