On the evening of September 19, a fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Sverdlova and Azina streets in Yekaterinburg. Details were reported by the city traffic police.
— The driver of a Subaru Impreza, travelling along Sverdlova from the Chelyuskintsev side, when turning left onto Azina failed to yield the right of way and collided with a Suzuki motorcycle that was approaching from the opposite direction and travelling straight.
The Subaru Impreza was driven by a 20-year-old woman with eight months' driving experience. According to the traffic police, she had previously been twice subject to administrative penalties; at the time of the accident she was wearing a seat belt. The motorist told inspectors that she had misjudged the speed of the approaching motorcycle.
The Suzuki motorcycle was ridden by a 34-year-old man with 16 years' experience. He had also twice been subject to administrative penalties. At the time of the collision he was wearing a helmet and protective gear.
A forensic medical examination has been ordered and an investigation is underway.
