Sabadash, who holds a residence permit in Ukraine, was recruited by the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Telegram channel “Antiterror Ural” reports. His assignment was to carry out a terrorist attack on a transport infrastructure facility of the Trans-Siberian railway corridor.

At the direction of his Ukrainian handlers, Roman Sabadash was trained in the manufacture and installation of a special device that could have derailed a passenger train. After arriving in Russia on a forged passport in March 2024, the man attempted to install the device he had made on the railway tracks but was detained by officers of the Sverdlovsk FSB.
